Summers End
As of tomorrow my summer is officially over. It's been a good one. Ranging from working at an awesome job, to driving up and down the coast, and moving twice. And now I find myself here, at the end of summer, and the beginning of my senior year of college. To the journey the next few months hold for me, and the photos that I will take. Here's some of my favorite summer captures:

Yo so mighty...or Yosemite, whatever you prefer.
“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.”
-Ansel Adams
“No matter how sophisticated you may be, a large granite mountain cannot be denied - it speaks in silence to the very core of your being”
-Ansel Adams
Yosemite is a very special place. And it is a place I never get tired of bringing a camera. I try and go at least once a year, especially when there is a blanket of snow on the valley floor. I have taken dozens, if not hundreds of photos of this special place, and through each picture I learn something new about me, my camera, and the secrets Yosemite has to offer. Ansel Adams is definitely one of my biggest influences for photography, and Ive learned from him the elegance a black & white photograph, especially photographs of Yosemite.

Bay Area, Untamed.
A couple weeks ago I got a week off of work to head home to the Bay
Area. If there is one thing Ive learned about the Bay is that there is
more than meets the eye. During my week off work, I was everywhere from the city to the redwoods, and up and down the coast from Santa Barbara to Sonoma.
Below is a taste of that week.

There are no people in these photographs...
“To the complaint, 'There are no people in these photographs,' I respond, There are always two people: the photographer and the viewer.”
― Ansel Adams
It's a comment Ive heard over and over about my photographs. People just don't make a visual appearance all that often (I have done a couple weddings and engagement shoots before. More on that later). It's a decision I have made as a photographer. My best photos have come from my travels near and far, from standing in the forests of Costa Rica to a few steps from my room. You can never fully prepare yourself for what you may come across on a photo excursion in the great outdoors, and that's the way I like it. I try and take photos that make people stop when they see them, to make people wonder, to make people take a break from their busy day and take a breathe of fresh air, as if they're in the photograph.
"Some photographers take reality... and impose the domination of their own thought and spirit. Others come before reality more tenderly and a photograph to them is an instrument of love and revelation."
― Ansel Adams
"I never know in advance what I will photograph, ... I go out into the world and hope I will come across something that imperatively interests me. I am addicted to the found object. I have no doubt that I will continue to make photographs till my last breath."
― Ansel Adams
